What is the Bowspring?

Sridaiva is a holistic mind-body approach that utilizes a dynamically balanced posture called the Bowspring. It is a physically freeing and emotionally releasing mind-body experience.

The Bow-Spring Method is a movement and postural modality, which can be applied to yoga, dance, athletics, or any dynamic posture. Consider enhancing your capacity in ordinary tasks like walking, sitting, housework, and even more specialized activities like yoga, jogging, or any athletics. The bow-spring template refers to the optimal neutral alignment for the human spine, which has a circumferential fullness in the thoracic, a deep curve in the lower back, and a uniform arch in the neck. In this undulating curved shape of the spine and torso, the entire back body is isometrically engaged into a loaded spring of connective tissue (myofascia).  The goal of the Bowspring alignment is to achieve tensile strength and rooted lightness in any movement. It strengthens the postural muscles, creates a better breath and fosters an overall physical and mental state of resting in a relaxed and a free environment. It offers a new view on body alignment that keeps you living healthy at any age; cultivating graceful lightness and whole body strength.

Founded in 2013 by Desi Springer and John Friend in Denver, CO, this postural alignment creates a balanced tone throughout the whole body. You develop a balanced push-pull along the tissue and muscle fibers. You become free from physical discomfort. Through the tissue, your body is informed that everything is okay. You’re safe. This information allows the whole body to return to its natural rhythms and optimal health. The physical body gets stronger, leaner and suppler. Injuries vanish. The emotional and mental bodies become sharper, more resilient and calmer. Your total health improves. You feel better. You age better. You are better.

Benefits of the Bowspring

Any age group can learn to embody the Bowspring in a basic posture to create a balanced tone throughout the body, providing strength, and balance.
